What this tool does
Move the income slider, pick your credit-history situation, and the tool shows how five broad categories of card typically map to that profile: secured, entry-level cashback, co-branded shopping, mid-tier rewards and premium travel.
It is a teaching device for a question people usually only get answered by a rejection.
What banks actually weigh
Approval is not a formula you can reverse-engineer, but the inputs are well known:
- Income and its stability β salaried, self-employed, how long in the current role.
- Existing credit score and report β see what moves your score.
- Current obligations β EMIs and existing card limits already outstanding.
- The bank's own internal policy β including whether you already bank with them, and their appetite for risk that month.
The categories explained
| Category | Typically needs | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Secured (FD-backed) | A fixed deposit; no income proof | Approval likelihood very high; see secured card |
| Entry-level cashback | ~βΉ15β20K/month income | Clean or new credit history |
| Co-branded shopping | Entry to mid income | Tied to a shopping platform |
| Mid-tier rewards | ~βΉ30K+/month income | Usually needs an existing good score |
| Premium travel | ~βΉ1L+/month income | Usually needs a strong (750+) history |
All thresholds indicative, as of 2026, and varying widely by bank.
What to do with the result
If a category reads "not yet", that is information, not a verdict. The reliable route upward is the boring one: build history with a secured card or an add-on card, keep utilisation under about 30%, pay in full for six to nine months, and avoid applying to several lenders at once β each application creates a hard inquiry.

Frequently asked questions
Does using this tool affect my credit score?
No. It runs entirely in your browser, never contacts a credit bureau and creates no inquiry of any kind. Nothing you enter is sent anywhere or stored by us.
Can this tool tell me if I will be approved?
No, and neither can anyone outside the bank. Approval depends on the lender's internal policy, your full credit report, existing obligations and checks we cannot see. This tool teaches you which category of card typically matches which profile β nothing more.
